Frisk aan het Spaarne is an amazing starting point for a variety of routes through the surroundings. Whether you’re walking, on your bicycle or by boat; there’s something for everybody. After an active day you just grab yourself a seat outside on our amazing terrace to enjoy our Scandinavian specialities.
The walk called: ‘Industry and trait a the Spaarne’, immerses you in the industrial heritage and the Spaarne. The Spaarne has existed for over 400 years and originally was a river. In the 12th and 13th century the river in the city centre was narrowed and served as an important connection on water for transport of goods (also the Droste cacao beans!). Gradually more and more shipyards, breweries and other entrepreneurs settled on the Spaarne. This walking route is a circle and you can start on different spots, also at Frisk aan het Spaarne. The real Haarlem you discover by bike. In the area are a couple of beautiful bicycle tours for you to make. The Industrial heritage route takes you along everything that helped the industrial revolution for the daily labour. Factory buildings, bridges, locks… From the cultural city centre of Haarlem to the coastal area of IJmuiden. Along the way you also of course pass the Droste Factory. The bicycle route along the industrial heritage of Touristic routes Metropool Amsterdam can be found here.
What makes the location of Frisk so special is of course the fact that it is located at the Spaarne. You can moor your boat here and immediately step on our terrace. Do you want to rent a boat? You could do that for example with Sloep Delen. You can easily rent your own boat which you can navigate through the canals of Haarlem. Besides Sloep Delen you can also rent a boat with Club Spaarne. Club Spaarne also has two amazing routes through Haarlem on their website. Both routes take you past Frisk aan het Spaarne.
